His feet are very fat and the normal diabetic socks have a slight compression so it feels really tight and he cannot get them on properly. he likes the over the calf or higher and most of the stores sell only the crew socks. Thanks for your inquiry. I'm not sure how thick Dr Scholl's socks are, but from their pictures, they look really thick like winter socks. Our socks are medium thickness with cushioned bottoms.
One thing to keep in mind is that our socks are mostly made with cotton so they don't cause your feet to sweat excessively. I've worn long diabetic socks before that were made mostly from nylon or polyester. It gets really hot.
